PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – A Cabot man is jailed after being accused of shooting at a surveyor.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) says Chad Rowe, 38, faces an Aggravated Assault charge in the Tuesday incident on Dorsey Road.

According to a PCSO incident report, the victim told deputies he was surveying the property at 8011 Dorsey Rd. when he began checking along the fence line for a previous survey marker. The surveyor said that sometimes requires crossing over the property lines.

He told the PCSO that as he searched for the survey marker, he walked onto the neighboring property. He stated that is when the suspect, later identified as Rowe, stepped out from behind a tree and fired one round from a shotgun in his direction. The blast hit about 25 feet in front of the surveyor and reportedly sprayed gravel on him.

The surveyor said he explained to Rowe that sometimes he has to cross onto neighboring property in order to complete the task, after which Rowe gave him a thumbs up and walked away.

After deputies arrived and searched for Rowe, he walked up from the back side of a pick-up truck carrying a beer. The incident report states that Rowe seemed very agitated and demanded deputies explain why they were on his property. Despite shouting at deputies, Rowe was taken into custody without incident.

After placing Rowe in a patrol car, deputies searched the area where the surveyor reported the shotgun blast had been fired and reported finding a single Remington 12 gauge shotgun shell lying on the ground.

The surveyor was not injured.
