LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –Construction and roadwork are common sights in Arkansas, but they are also some of our most dangerous jobs
Every year industrial accidents take the lives of Arkansas workers.
Friday, the Arkansas Department of Labor held their annual memorial for those who lost their lives while working industrial job sites in our state.
Overall, state workplace accident deaths have dropped from 32 ten years ago to 7 in 2017. ADH says their ultimate goal is zero.
“Often times people will lose their lives, said Leon Jones, jr., Arkansas Department of Labor Director. “We want to make sure we highlight these jobs, that are necessary, are also dangerous, and our job at the Department of Labor is to make sure every Arkansan gets home, and gets home safely.”
ADH holds 12 to 15 free safety conferences every year for employers. They also send videos, personnel and other resources to make sure businesses are following federal OSHA safety laws.
