UPDATE:
SEARCY, Ark. — A welfare check in Searcy leads officers to a home where they found a woman dead. Now it’s being investigated as a homicide.
It happened this morning at a home on Horton Street.
Police are not telling us much about the investigation. We spent the afternoon reaching out to family, friends, and the victims’ job. They didn’t want to speak and we ask that you keep them in your prayers.
“It’s very tragic,” said Todd DeWitt from the Searcy Police Department.
Police in Searcy are investigating its second homicide in two weeks.
“As much that is going on, Searcy is still a good town,” said DeWitt.
Officers were called to check on 23-year-old Madison Clevenger because she was not showing up for work and answering her phone. She was found dead inside the home.
“We sent the body off to the crime lab,” said DeWitt.
The St. Francis County EMSA posted a photo on their Facebook page saying Madison worked as an EMT.
“Anytime especially in the town of Searcy we are not like big towns, we don’t have a lot of issues with crime, but here recently it’s been kind of ramped up a little bit,” said DeWitt.
Police need your help bringing the family justice.
“We just send our prayers out to them right now,” said DeWitt.
