CABOT, AR – A 14-year-old Louisiana boy is behind bars on multiple charges after police say he made bomb threats against Cabot Junior High school and a school in Oregon in November of 2014.
On November 3rd the Cabot Police Department was contacted by Cabot Junior High South (CJHS) in regards to an armed person dressed in camouflage outside of the school.
A few minutes after that 911 call, CJHS received a call from a person who said they were going to the school to shoot the staff and students. Both calls were recorded and the number was identified as a Google Voice phone number.
Later that same afternoon, police say the school received another phone call where the caller stated that a bomb was on a school bus. The bus was found and evacuated.
According to a report, on November 7th a student came forward with information that possibly identified the unknown caller as being from Louisiana. The student told police they had met this person online.
After an investigation police were able to identify the suspect as a 14-year-old in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. Detectives with Cabot began working with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department on the case.
On November 18th, detectives issued a search warrant and recovered two computers and a tablet from a home in Louisiana. The suspected juvenile was taken into custody where he was questioned but denied any involvement in the threats, and was released.
After the computers were examined evidence was recovered that linked the suspect to the threats at CJHS, along with a similar incident at a school in Lake Oswego, Oregon on November 14th of 2014.
The juvenile was arrested on February 26th, 2015 and was charged with Terrorizing and Communicating of False information of planned bombing on school property.
The juvenile is scheduled for an appearance on March 25 in Acadia Parish, Louisiana.
