PULASKI COUNTY, AR – Board directors unanimously voted in favor of a resolution to ask a Pulaski County Judge not to allow Little Italy to become a city.

Members of the Little Italy community filed the petition in may to establish itself as a municipality. Board members had little to say about the decision to oppose the the area’s plans.

Ruth Bell who we spoke with says her main concern is a nearby watershed that could be affected if Little Italy becomes a city.

“With one fourth of the possible developable land gone from county control, that will require much higher standards for development for the owners of the other 75 percent,” Ruth says.

Mayor Stodola says the judge will be notified about the board’s opposition within the next couple of weeks.

A solicitation ordinance vote is rescheduled for next Tuesday (July 14th). There were not enough board members present for that vote tonight (July 7th).
