LR Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Child Porn

LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) – Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced today that a Pulaski County man arrested in 2013 by agents from the Attorney General’s Office was sentenced today to 60 years in prison on multiple felony child pornography charges.

David William Engstrom, 53, of Little Rock pleaded guilty to 20 counts of felony child pornography on Dec. 8, 2014. He was sentenced today by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Barry Sims to three years in prison on each count. Those sentences will be served consecutively.

“This prison sentence demonstrates that the State has no tolerance for criminals who prey on our children,” McDaniel said. “I’m so proud of the work the Attorney General’s Cyber Crimes Unit put into this. This conviction sends a strong message that we will never stop trying to apprehend and punish those who use the Internet to harm our most vulnerable citizens.”

Engstrom was arrested in July 2013 on several counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. Engstrom was already a Level 3 registered sex offender who had previously been convicted of first-degree sexual abuse.

Engstrom was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his Little Rock residence.

Investigators seized computers and other electronic evidence. The evidence was analyzed at the Cyber Crimes Unit Forensic Lab in Little Rock.
