MAGNOLIA, AR — Family members gathered to remember a local woman who has been missing for 36 years.
Mary Shinn, of Magnolia, has not been seen since July 20, 1978.
Family and friends marked the anniversary of her disappearance today.
They also wanted to find closure.
The ceremony was held at Central Baptist Church.
Police believe Shinn disappeared after meeting up with an unidentified man to discuss trading some property.
Shinn’s brother, Jay Shinn, says it wasn’t goodbye — but a way to say they still have hope.
“It was a hard day to come to, but it actually turned out to be a beautiful day. The words that were said, the music, I think it was something that my sister would have loved,” Shinn said.
Her family says they appreciate the Magnolia community’s kindness during this hard time.
