LITTLE ROCK, AR — A man accused of shooting two people, killing one of them, on Saturday made his first court appearance Friday.

Steven Hayes was given a $1 million bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor if he posts bond.

Hayes is charged the first-degree murder of Shoncoven Smith and first-degree battery of the other man he shot.

Smith’s family and Hayes’ father pleaded for him to come forward earlier in the week.

Police took him into custody Thursday around 5:50 p.m. at a home on South Main Street in Little Rock.
