LITTLE ROCK, AR — A man is behind bars after reportedly trying to point a gun at a security officer on the Arkansas Baptist College (ABC) campus.
According to the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD), officers responded to ABC shortly before 6:30 Monday night where a man and woman told them a suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Aaron Dillard, was sitting in the woman’s car.
As the woman approached her car, Dillard reportedly got out and slapped her, causing her male friend to approach him, at which point the suspect revealed a handgun in his waistband, and told the man he would “scatter him all over the street,” according to an LRPD report. Dillard then kicked two large dents in the man’s car and ran away.
Officers were unable to locate Dillard immediately, but responded to another call at ABC about 30 minutes after the initial report.
LRPD says Dillard was back on the campus, and had approached several people who were standing at 16th and Bishop, including the security guard and the man involved in the incident during Dillard’s previous visit, and started asking them for “Brandy,” according to the report.
The man from the previous incident told the security guard that Dillard was the man who threatened him with the gun, so the guard approached Dillard, telling him to leave.
The suspect then started to reach behind his back, but the security guard drew his weapon, pointed it at Dillard and ordered him not to move, at which point he ran away again.
Officers found the suspect at 15th and Bishop, where they detained him at gunpoint. A subsequent search of Dillard’s person did not produce a firearm, according to LRPD.
Police say Dillard, who was extremely intoxicated, was identified by the security guard as the suspect from the previous incidents.
The suspect then became belligerent with officers and began kicking the inside of the patrol car, but was eventually taken to the Pulaski County jail where he was charged with three counts of terroristic threatening, obstructing governmental operations and public intoxication.
