Man Arrested, Accused of Shooting at Fort Smith Restaurant

FORT SMITH, AR (KNWA) – Fort Smith police have arrested a man accused of shooting at an area restaurant Monday night.

According to the Fort Smith Police Dept., officers responded at about 10:38 p.m. to the Pho Vietnam restaurant in the 2200 block of Rogers Avenue, to a call about a shooting.

The restaurant owner told police he was cleaning the dining area and heard glass breaking; when he looked up, he saw a black male, wearing white clothes, firing at the building.

Police say the suspect ran away after firing several shots. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, investigators obtained security footage from Northside High School showing the suspect in front of the restaurant at the time of the shooting. The footage also showed the man running to a nearby boarding house on the 200 block of North 22nd Street.

Investigators went to the boarding house and spoke with Knighe Rhoden, interviewing him at the police station. He was then arrested, facing charges with terroristic act and felon in possession of a firearm.

A .22-caliber revolver believed to have been used in the shooting was seized from Rhoden’s apartment.

Rhoden is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond.
