LITTLE ROCK, AR — A man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of a Little Rock Pastor and his 10-year-old granddaughter, who were killed in a car accident on New Year’s Day.

According to Arkansas State Police, 37-year-old Kareame Cotton, of Little Rock, has been charged with two counts of negligent homicide and one count of third-degree escape.

David Harris, Senior Pastor at Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock, and his 10-year-old granddaughter, Maci Harris, died in the accident on Interstate 30 near Scott Hamilton Drive.

Arkansas State Police crash records indicate that Cotton was involved in two consecutive accidents that night at 8:20, the first of which resulted in the death of a 2-month-old boy, and the second, which killed David and Maci Harris.

State Police say Cotton was charged with escape because he tried to flee the scene of the accident after being handcuffed by State Troopers investigating the crash.
