JACKSON COUNTY, AR – A Texas driver escaped with his life but lost his car to an oncoming train at a railroad crossing.
The close call happened just before 3:30 a.m. Monday on Jackson County Road 55.
That’s where the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) says the man’s 2015 Mustang became stuck on the tracks as a southbound Amtrak passenger train was rolling toward the Union Pacific Railroad crossing.
Deputies say the driver of the Mustang, Pradeep Burugu, of Houston, Texas, was removed from his vehicle before impact.
There were no injuries to the passengers on the eight car Amtrak train and minimal damage to the train.
The JCSO is still investigating the accident.
