Update (12 p.m.):
MAUMELLE, AR – A Maumelle High School teacher was arrested Friday morning after she crashed her car in the parking lot of the school.

Just before 9 a.m. officers with the Maumelle Police Department were called to the school about an intoxicated teacher.

When officers arrived on scene they spoke with the teacher, Sonya Kindall inside her classroom. According to a report Kindall was unable to stand on her own, and her speech was slurred.

While officers were evaluating Kindall, they were told that she had been involved in a car accident in the school parking lot when she arrived that morning.

A report says while Kindall was parking her car she hit the left side of a Mercedes that was parked beside her. Kindall then got out of the vehicle and went inside to her classroom without telling anyone about the accident. No one was hurt. 

Kindall was taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock where a blood test confirmed that she was under the influence of alcohol.

According to police Kindall, was convicted of a DUI back in 2012. 

A source says that Kindall admitted to drinking alcohol and taking Xanax before school Friday morning.

MAUMELLE, AR – An investigation is underway after a teacher at Maumelle High School crashes their car in a parking lot.

Sources say the teacher made it into a classroom and students called administrator.

The teacher, whose name is not yet being released, was taken to the hospital due to “conditions not related to crash.”

A source also says the teacher admitted to drinking alcohol and taking Xanax before school.

No one was injured in the Friday morning incident.

Pulaski County Special School District officials say the teacher has been suspended pending an investigation.
