MAUMELLE, AR – A local man is behind bars after being charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of his wife, which police say was followed by a fire in his home.
The Maumelle Police Department (MPD) says Daniel Earl Cecil, 43, was arrested Wednesday, four days after a blaze destroyed his home at #2 Prince Drive.
Fire crews and police officers were called to the scene Saturday night just before 6:30 and found a woman inside the home with a stab wound to her left forearm. Further investigation led officers to believe her husband had stabbed her, set the house on fire, and left the scene.
Police say Cecil’s 6-year-old stepdaughter was also in the house at the time.
On Wednesday, MPD detectives prepared an affidavit for an arrest warrant for Cecil and picked him up in Little Rock for questioning.
After interviewing Cecil, the MPD charged him with:
- Two counts of Attempted Murder
- 1st degree Domestic Battery
- Arson
- Interference with Emergency Communication
