LITTLE ROCK, AR — A proposed ballot title to repeal the ban on same-sex marriage in Arkansas has been rejected.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel rejected the ballot title proposal due to “several procedural irregularities, including uncertainty regarding the designation of a proposed ballot title and failure to submit the actual text of the proposed measure.”
Arkansans for Equality submitted the ballot title proposal, aimed to repeal Amendment 83 of the Arkansas Constitution, which defines marriage as only the union of one man and one woman.
McDaniel says the opinion also points out several ambiguities arising under the submitted material.
The proposal can be reworked and submitted again.
