SHERWOOD, AR — Parents, teachers and students will be meeting at Northwood Middle School tonight to talk about the school’s possible closure.
This is all part of a bigger plan to help the Pulaski County Special School District save money after Jacksonville decided to separate. Tonight PCSSD superintendent Dr. Jerry Guess will talk to the community about the district’s future and possible plans to close Northwood.
Many of the 370 students who go there now, would be relocated to the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District. Others will be sent to Sylvan Hills Middle School.
The opinions on closing the school vary.
One man told us, “I think it’s a mistake to shut it down.”
Parent Christa Lemoine said, “It’s always a mess usually when you had to get something done as a parent, so I’m kind of glad they’re getting shut down, but at the same time my kids future lays in the balance.”
Last week Dr. Guess talked to the folks of Scott Elementary…which is the second school being considered for closing. Many parents there are against they’re school shutting down.
The meeting begins tonight at Northwood Middle School starts at 6:30.
