COLLIERVILLE, Tenn.–(WATN) A Memphis pastor who recently worked in Little Rock was shot and killed at his Collierville apartment Thursday night.

Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church Executive Pastor Brodes Perry died as a result of the shooting, his wife was injured.

Broders worked at Saint Mark Baptist in Little Rock from 2014 to 2018 as an pastor of assimilation.

Latoshia Daniels of Little Rock was arrested at the scene.

Collierville Police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute at the Meridian Park Apartments where records show, and residents confirmed, Perry lived.

Daniels is accused of first-degree murder and other charges.

Records show she had an affiliation with Perry’s former church in Little Rock.

Neighbors described the chaotic moments as they heard several gunshots and screams in a complex where crime is rare and shootings – domestic or random – are even more rare.

“It was surprising, definitely not expected here,” Cade Kirkendall, who lives in the complex, said.

The sounds from outside his open patio door jolted Kirkendall last night.

“I think there were like 5 or 6 gunshots in the first kind of blast and then there was a little bit of a delay a woman screaming and then I heard some more, probably five more,” Kirkendall said.

He said when he looked towards building 1681 in the complex, he saw officers draw their guns before paramedics arrived.”I saw them bring the gentleman down in a stretcher, I saw the woman come down, she had obviously been shot in the shoulder,” Kirkendall said.

In a statement, Mississippi Boulevard’s senior pastor said Perry “was a phenomenal man….whose service and heart will truly be missed by all.”

Daniels is being held without bond. Her first hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Collierville Town Court.

Collivrville Police arrested and charged Latoshia Daniels, a certified anger management specialist.

Investigators have not released a possible motive.
