SILOAM SPRINGS, AR – The teacher accused of felony rape appeared in Benton County Court for a bond hearing Thursday morning. Her bond was set at $50,000.

SILOAM SPRINGS, AR (KNWA)– A woman listed as an arts and social studies teacher at Siloam Springs Middle School is in the Benton County Jail, charged with felony rape.

According to the Siloam Springs Police Department, 32-year-old Mary Faith McCormick had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 13-year-old male.

Officers say the incidents occurred between June and August of 2014.

The investigation involves the exchange of electronic messages, photographs and a sexual relationship between the subject and the victim.

On Wednesday, August 13, McCormick was arrested for rape in connection with this investigation.

Siloam Springs Public School Superintendent, Ken Ramey, talked to KNWA and Fox24 on Wednesday night, saying, quote,

“We became aware of a police investigation this afternoon and have suspended the teacher pending the outcome of that investigation.”

Siloam Springs Police say the investigation is ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time.

McCormick’s next court date is set for September 22.

As of Wednesday night, no bond had been set.
