PALM BEACH COUNTY – A holiday decoration is making its rounds on social media, and it’s not for a good reason.
Katie Johnson is finding out how one sign can spark a whole lot of drama.
“Dear Santa, this year please give me a big fat bank account and a slim body. Please don’t mix those two up like you did last year. Thanks.”
It’s the sign seen around social media, this photo has been shared nearly 400 times.
A Palm Beach County mom posted it online after spotting the sign in the girl’s section of Dillard’s at the mall at Wellington Green.
“What would a little girl want with a bank account and it gives the wrong message about having a slim body. That’s not the message we want to give our kids,” says Sally Steward.
“It makes me think that I should be very very focused on how I look and I should want to be thinner than I am and have more money than I do,” says Kaylee.
The words written in red meant as a Christmas decoration, are taking on a whole new meaning.
“It’s kind of funny because a woman who wants to wish for that should make it happen for herself,” says Steward.
“How you look isn’t the most important thing. Just to be healthy is more important.”
A Dillard’s representative says all Dillard’s have been told to remove the sign from the sales floors.
