BENTON, AR – Employees at Webb’s House of Flowers in Benton have been working around the clock to complete bouquets and make all the deliveries for Mother’s Day.

Extra hands helped fill flower orders until 2 in the morning to make sure all the orders are ready to be delivered on time.

Doyle Webb says on Saturday designers finished 150 bouquets. “There are going to be a lot of happy mom’s out there.”

Mother’s Day is one, if not the busiest holiday for florists. Webb says 10% of their annual sales are from this period of time. While the red rose is most popular for Valentine’s Day, Webb says anything pink is popular for Mother’s Day. “People like shrubbery type flowers that they can plant in the yard.”

Kristen Graddy works at The Crown Shop on Rodney Parham in Little Rock where last minute shoppers can’t pick up flowers, but they can find a lot more than a Hallmark card.
“We also have candles, stationery, and all kinds of home décor gifts.”

On Saturday the store is filled with Dad’s shopping for moms, mom’s shopping for their mothers, and kids like 11-year-old Kayla Ausburn, picking out some very special gifts.
“I want to surprise her with a charm bracelet.”

Graddy says while the crowd is constant Saturday, there will be a few customers in on the actual holiday Sunday. “A lot of men are last minute shoppers always the last couple of days before a holiday.” The Crown Shop on Rodney Parham in Little Rock is open until 5pm on Mother’s Day.

The National Retailer Foundation estimates the average person will spend about $153 on mom this year.
