LITTLE ROCK, AR – After two arrests in a homicide from last week, more details were released Wednesday in an affidavit from Little Rock District Court about what happened.
The body of Fred Pohnka, 68, was found July 8 on his kitchen floor on South Jackson St. In police documents released Wednesday, it stated he had been dead for several hours before he was found.
Surveillance video from a camera across the street from Pohnka’s house tells more of the story, according to the documents. It revealed a car with two women first arrived at Pohnka’s home around 10:45 p.m. on July 7 and a second vehicle with two people inside arrived 15 minutes later. Both vehicles left shortly after 11 p.m. within one minute of each other.
Alexandria Martin, 27, was arrested in the case Tuesday night and Malcolm Cooksey, 24, was arrested on Wednesday. Martin told police she went to Pohnka’s home with another woman and that Cooksey and Martin’s boyfriend (identified only by a first name) followed them there. Cooksey is reportedly the boyfriend of the other woman, who has not been charged in the case.
Both women gave conflicting reports about one of them being there to have sex with Pohnka for $100.
The other woman told police she stayed outside in the car when Martin went inside with Pohnka.
The men reportedly went inside Pohnka’s home after Martin. The other woman said Martin came running out with credit cards and she realized the three had robbed Pohnka.
The police documents state that items stolen from Pohnka include a Glock model 22 .40 caliber pistol, his wallet with credit cards inside, his cellphone and a flatscreen TV.
Martin told police after the incident she removed her cigarette butts from Pohkna’s living room. After the four left, she said she went to several gas stations and filled up numerous vehicles using the stolen credit cards. She said Cooksey told her that “it got out of hand and he had to hit Fred in the head with the pistol” and that they took the TV, a pistol, a long gun, credit cards and cash.
