NEWPORT, Ark. – A local man has been formally charged with murder two months after the body of his pregnant wife was found in their home.
Rickey Don Crawford, Jr., 40, has been charged with two counts of Capital Murder in the case.
The charges were announced in a news release issued Thursday by Henry Boyce, Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in November 2017 when Crawford’s wife, Amanda, was found dead in her home. Amanda Crawford’s unborn child also died.
“This is the first homicide involving a pregnant victim I have seen. The facts of this case are definitely heinous,” Boyce said in the news release.
Crawford is scheduled to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Friday before Third Judicial District Circuit Judge Harold Erwin.
