SHERWOOD, Ark.- An unlikely friendship between a nine year old and a Sherwood police officer started when the officer was giving the little girl’s mother some advice.

Taylor Barton brought a necklace she had just finished making out to Officer Scott Glidewell as he was talking with her mother.

Glidewell was so touched by the gift, he wanted to give Taylor something in return.

“I remember on my column I kept a bracelet with an anchor on it and that was a reminder to always stay grounded,” says Glidewell.

He gave the bracelet to Taylor reminding her to always stay grounded and safe.

The exchange reminded Glidewell of the importance of community policing, something he has a passion for.  Now, everyday as he patrols the streets of Sherwood, he is reminded of why he does the work he does and how much it makes a difference.
