BENTON COUNTY, AR (KNWA) – An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting in Rogers.
It happened early Thursday morning when deputies of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a 911 domestic disturbance call from a woman around 1 a.m.
Deputies say when they arrived, a woman met them in the front yard of the home and told them there were two small children inside, along with an armed male intruder. Later they discovered the man inside was the woman’s estranged husband.
During negotiations, deputies say shots were fired from the home, forcing them to take cover. A short time later, the front door opened and the two children emerged unharmed. They were taken away from the scene. The woman was later taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A brief confrontation between the armed subject and deputies led to the man being shot and disarmed. He was treated at the scene and later taken by helicopter to Washington Regional Hospital where his condition is unknown.
This is an ongoing investigation led by the Arkansas State Police along with detectives of the BCSO.
