SPRINGDALE, AR (KNWA) – Springdale Police arrested Wayne Sormile, 30, Thursday for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of Arkansas.
The department got a call in February stating that Sormile was convicted of rape in Oklahoma and was registered there, but had moved to Arkansas since his conviction and had not registered after moving.
After some investigation to find where Sormile was living, officers located Sormile at an apartment complex in Springdale.
According to a police report, Sormile told officers he had moved to the area in late 2012 or early 2013. When officers asked him why he had failed to register as a sex offender, he told them that “he wasn’t sure who to call so he had just done nothing.” Sormile also told officers that he had been working in the state for the past several weeks.
Sormile was arrested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and booked into the Washington County Jail awaiting a hearing.
