MAUMELLE, AR – Police are searching for a stabbing suspect after a man told police he was attacked while sitting in his car on Monday afternoon.

Cars passed through the Millwood and Audubon Drive intersection all day long, but other than traffic, resident Brian Harris said the area was usually quiet. He moved from Fayetteville for work despite his fear of crime.

“I’m just a guy that don’t really like a lot of trouble.”

He and his 12-year-old daughter were close by when Maumelle Police were called to the Maumelle Fire Department just before 1:30 to investigate a reported stabbing.

“Makes me feel a little uncomfortable with me and my daughter.”

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim 39-year-old Steven Wilson who had a stab wound on his abdomen.

Wilson told police that he had been sitting in his vehicle stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Millwood and Audubon Drive when an adult white male walked up to his vehicle and stabbed him.

Officers searched the area, but were not able to find a suspect. Wilson was taken to the hospital and was treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, according to a report.

Maumelle Police believe that this was not a random attack. Based on the victim’s statements, police believe money the victim owed had something to do with the attack.

But the suspect was still out on the streets and knowing that, Harris said he would keep his daughter and wife close in order to help ensure their safety.

“I don’t want her to be afraid to live or go places, but I also don’t want her to ignorant of things that are out there in the world that could potentially harm her.”
