PULASKI COUNTY, AR — Employees in the Pulaski County Special School District will be taking home some extra cash.

The one-time bonus will amount to $1,250.

The increase in the district’s budget is a result of property reassessments.

Leaders agreed to give the district’s 2,600 workers the money instead of putting it into the building fund.

Superintendent Jerry Guess said they wanted to give the money to help with rising insurance premiums.

“This does not imply that we are not still working hard to address our facilities issues. We think we have to also acknowledge our employees need some help,” said Guess.

Leaders agreed to give all employees the same amount since the insurance crisis affects everyone.
