SHERWOOD, AR — A series of meetings began tonight to let parents and students know about the plan for improvements to buildings in the Pulaski County Special School District.

The first meeting was at Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood. They’ve gained a couple hundred students in the past year, so more space is needed.

Many other schools — in the district — are also waiting for updates.

The plan is to put a measure on the May ballot for a millage increase. It would break down to around $100 in additional property taxes on a $100,000 home.

Sylvan Hill High School Principal, Tracy Allen, said, “We really have to take a good, strong look at the facilities we have and try to come up with solutions on how we’re going to house additional students.”

Building update meetings — at schools across the district — are planned for the next couple of months.
