PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Pine Bluff School Board voted unanimously not to renew Superintendent Michael Robinson’s contract, which expires in 2019.
After a two-hour executive session Thursday night, the Pine Bluff School District Board of Directors voted 5-2 to not renew Superintendent Michael Robinson’s contract.
According to a copy of the contract, Robinson was hired on June 6, 2016, through June 30, 2019. Robinson is being allowed to complete his current contract.
The school board director said Robinson, who was at the meeting, also did not comment on the issue.
The superintendent was called into the executive session then returned to the board room after a while.
Before coming to PBSD, Robinson served eight years in the capacity of middle school turnaround principal, Director of Priority/Turnaround Schools and Instructional Director in Prince George’s County Public Schools, Maryland. The district consisted of 129,000 scholars and 208 schools. Within Robinson’s cluster, he supervised 13 schools consisting of over 10,000 scholars. He worked with multiple departments across the system. Previously, Robinson has worked as a middle school teacher, high school assistant principal, and elementary principal (metro Atlanta school districts) and an elementary, intermediate, and middle/junior high school teacher in Texas and Louisiana, his home state.
In 2004, Robinson obtained his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida; 2003 – a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida; 2002 – a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Troy State University – Atlanta campus; 1996 – a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (grades K – 8 and additional course work in English Education) from Southern University at New Orleans.
Robinson is a motivational speaker, member of Kappa Alpha Psi and Prince Hall Free & Accepted Mason and professional organizations.
