PINE BLUFF, AR — A 13-year-old came back home a champion, bringing a national award to his group of at risk youths in Pine Bluff.
Rhamon Johnson was crowned the 2014 National Silver Gloves Champion this weekend in Independence, Mo.
He went representing his group of at risk youth in a Pine Bluff boxing program that aims to teach kids how to channel their energy into a positive activity.
This is a goal he says he’s worked very hard for.
“We come in the gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday working out continuously practicing stuff and this is what I wanted,” Johnson said.
His coach Albert Brewer says this a major step forward in his program keeping kids off the streets.
