BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A young Arkansas girl survived her father and stepmother chaining her to a dresser last year.

Now, authorities are trying to figure out who killed 6-year-old Jersey Bridgeman after her body was found in a vacant Bentonville house this week.

Jersey’s father and stepmother are in prison. They pleaded guilty to charges about chaining her to a dresser last year.

Police say they’re investigating Jersey’s death as a homicide, but they won’t say how she died. They haven’t arrested anyone in connection with her death.

Capt. Justin Thompson says Jersey’s body was found near the home where she lived with her mother. Thompson says she was killed sometime between midnight and when her body was found early Tuesday morning.

Bentonville is about 215 miles northwest of Little Rock.
