Police: Search for Springdale Man in Kidnapping of Own Wife

SPRINGDALE, AR (KNWA) – Police have released pictures of the man they are looking for in a kidnapping and assault.

It happened around 8 p.m. Sunday in the area of Oak Moore, where officers were called for a disturbance. A woman reported that she had been assaulted and threatened by her husband, Jonathan Butler, 31.

She told police her husband had been holding her at gunpoint and beating her. At one point, she said he wrapped his hands around her throat so she couldn’t breathe. She said he smashed her phone and refused to let her leave, eventually pointing a loaded AR-15 rifle at her and threatening to kill her. She said Butler held her against her will for over an hour.

Eventually, the woman said she escaped out a window to a neighbor’s house, where she called 911. It was originally believed that Butler was still inside his home, armed with the AR-15. That’s why special operations units were called to the scene. They later found the home to be empty.

Butler is wanted for two counts of Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Interfering with Emergency Communications, and Domestic Battery, 3rd Degree.

He is described as being 5’11” tall and weighs about 175 pounds.

Police say he is considered to be armed and dangerous.

If you know of his whereabouts, do not approach him, and call the Springdale Police Department at (479) 751-4542.
