SEARCY, AR – Dive teams hit the Little Red River in frigid conditions. This spot, just a few miles north of Searcy, is the last place anyone saw 2-year-old Malik Drummond nine days ago.
“This particular area is a very popular, a common area for people to travel. There have been tips, whether there was any basis to the tip, or just someone guessing is still yet to be determined.”
A trained cadaver dog picked up a scent this morning leading White County Sheriff teams into 15 to 20 feet of murky water, girded out and methodically searched.
“We’re still getting a lot of information, we haven’t found him yet, so none of it has turned out to be productive, but we’re still following up on it too.”
The volunteer search effort ended after eight days. Searcy Police Chief Jeremy Clark reiterated tonight, their efforts won’t end until Malik is found.
“Just continue to encourage people to call in with any information. The smallest thing that may not seem that important may turn out to be the case cracker.”
