Ark. congressman asks for redistricting review

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Republican Congressman Rick Crawford says a redistricting plan approved earlier this year appears to create two misplaced precincts in his east Arkansas district and is asking state legislative leaders to review the map.

Crawford asked Senate President Paul Bookout and House Speaker Robert Moore for the review in a letter dated Friday. He wrote that two precincts in Jefferson County appear to remain as 4th district seats but are surrounded by precincts in the 1st district, which Crawford represents.

Crawford asked the legislative leaders to amend the map if their research confirms the error.

Crawford’s district was redrawn to include more districts from the Delta region. Democratic state Rep. Clark Hall, who chaired the House panel in charge of redistricting, is one of two Democrats running for Crawford’s seat.
