Original Story (10:30 a.m.):
LITTLE ROCK, AR (Arkansas Times) – Quick calls to clerks’ offices in some of the state’s most populous counties finds that many are waiting for guidance from their respective county attorneys.

Where same-sex couples can get a marriage license immediately: Pulaski, Carroll, Faulkner, Washington and Saline.

Waiting on county attorney: Benton, Garland, Jefferson and White.

Craighead and Sebastian counties said to check back later.

From an earlier item:

Scott Perkins, communications director for the Association of Arkansas Counties, said that organization was advising counties to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples forthwith. He said some counties hadn’t solved software issues on licenses. Some have already prepared gender-neutral license forms. But those issues shouldn’t be a bar to issuance of licenses.

A spokesperson in the Faulkner County Clerk’s office said one license had already been issued to a same-sex couple.
