LITTLE ROCK, AR (Arkansas Times) – Quick calls to clerks’ offices in some of the state’s most populous counties finds that many are waiting for guidance from their respective county attorneys.
Where same-sex couples can get a marriage license immediately: Pulaski, Carroll, Faulkner, Washington and Saline.
Waiting on county attorney: Benton, Garland, Jefferson and White.
Craighead and Sebastian counties said to check back later.

Scott Perkins, communications director for the Association of Arkansas Counties, said that organization was advising counties to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples forthwith. He said some counties hadn’t solved software issues on licenses. Some have already prepared gender-neutral license forms. But those issues shouldn’t be a bar to issuance of licenses.
A spokesperson in the Faulkner County Clerk’s office said one license had already been issued to a same-sex couple.
