Pope County Businesses Damaged During Severe Weather

RUSSELLVILLE, AR – In Pope County people in Russellville began picking up the pieces earlier this morning.

“I’m like still shocked looking at everything,” says Shannon Foster.

Shannon Foster wasn’t expecting to spend her Thursday morning picking up the pieces of her Russellville office.

“You would think a tornado would have done this not just winds,” says Foster.

The second story of the Moore Building on Parkway ripped open during Wednesday night’s storm.

“This building I’ve owned for a long time and never had anything like this happen,” says Tony Moore.

Tony Moore recalls receiving a call around 1 a.m. from the fire department telling him about the damage, not expecting to pull up to exposed offices and a debris filled parking lot.

And right down the road a local gym is also feeling the effects of the high winds. But luckily lots of helping hands are willing to pitch in to get the area’s cleaned up.

“The restoration guys are on the way. The mayor has been by this morning, Mayor Horton and the city has been here to make sure everything is getting cleaned up,” says Moore.

But even with a quick clean up many employees like Foster wonder what the rest of the week will hold.

“How are these people supposed to get their jobs done if they don’t have an office?,” asks Foster.

Things in Russellville are getting back to normal fairly quickly. Branches that fell last night have already been chopped up and removed.
