CONWAY, AR – A local man has resigned his job as a probation and parole officer after being arrested on an assault charge following an argument with his wife.
It happened early Saturday evening at the couple’s home on Treetop Circle in Conway.
Deputies that investigated the incident noted the woman had been crying and had a handprint on her arm, along with a minor scrape on her cheek.
According to an incident report from the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), Robert Francis, 37, was taken into custody and booked into jail. He bonded out a short time later and while being ordered to have no contact with his wife, he was allowed to go back to his home to get some belongings with a deputy present.
The FCSO says it was called to the scene by a relative after a child who had been scared by the argument between their parents called their grandmother, who in turn called the sheriff’s office.
Francis is charged with assault on a family or household member. He goes to court July 6 to answer the charge. He had been employed with Arkansas Community Correction.
