NORTH LITTLE, AR – Security is getting tighter at military bases across the country including here in Arkansas. They are at the highest level since the 10th anniversary of 911.
The security level was raised just hours after the FBI director said there could be thousands of ISIS followers online in the US, and the extremist group could be focusing on military law enforcement.
From the outside of Camp Robinson you likely wouldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. That’s the goal, to make everything appear it’s operating as normal. But security measures are ramped up. Things like car and ID checks may cause a bit of a backup, but otherwise it’s business as usual.
We’re told there is no specific threat, but the goal is to make sure every military base is ready just in case.
“To raise their awareness level that a risk could present itself at anytime so you need to be aware not only coming to the base and anytime you’re in public,” says Lt. Colonel Keith Moore of the Arkansas National Guard.
If you planned on visiting Camp Robinson or the Little Rock Air Force base you may want to call ahead first. And for those working here keep in mind there could be some delays at the front gates due to increased security measures.
