Pulaski County Man Arrested after Allegedly Setting His Neighbor’s Home on Fire

PULASKI COUNTY, AR – A man is in jail after being accused of setting his neighbor’s home on fire.

It happened Monday night on Reggie Lane in the Oak Grove area.

The incident led to the arrest of Terry Shelton, 35.

According to a report from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), Shelton had shot Randall Rinehart’s dog on Friday after it escaped from Rinehart’s yard and chased Shelton’s pet turkey.

Rinehart, 48, told deputies the men were talking about that incident Monday night when Shelton became angry and started talking about having large amounts of ammunition. The neighbor told deputies Shelton said he would “shoot anyone or anything anytime he feels like it.”

After the conversation, Rinehart called the PCSO and deputies came to his home to take a report. That’s when he told them he feared for the safety of his family and the community.

Two hours later, deputies were called back to the home after Rinehart reported that Shelton threw a molotov cocktail into a window of his home, breaking it and starting a fire inside and outside the house. Rinehart got the fire out but said he heard a gunshot from Shelton’s property and was afraid to step outside.

Shelton was found by deputies hiding in woods near Rinehart’s home and was taken into custody.

Shelton is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, arson, and endangering the welfare of a minor. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
