FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) — Repeat DWI offender Jo Jackson has been arrested again, this time after being found near a fire. The Fayetteville Police Department says it responded to a call of a fire in the driveway of a home in the 2600 block of North Valencia Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday. 

According to a police report, when firefighters arrived, Jackson was sitting in the driveway next to the fire, but ran into the garage when police arrived. Neighbors told police Jackson and her daughter, Jessica Gonzales, had been arguing in the garage. According to police reports, when asked to come out of the garage for questioning, Jackson ran past the the officer and tried to go into the home.

Officers report grabbing Jackson’s right wrist and telling her she could not go inside. Police say Jackson pulled away, but eventually they were able to cuff her. Police add that Jackson had alcohol on her breath. Later, Gonzales confirmed Jackson had been drinking in the garage. Jackson says she was drinking non-alcoholic drinks, but refused a breath test.

Police say when asked why she set the fire, Jackson did not answer. The fire was put out, with damage spreading from the driveway to the yard of the neighboring home. 

Jackson was arrested on a felony charge of reckless burning, along with misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, fleeing and resisting arrest.
