ST. LOUIS, MO – The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has cancelled oral arguments scheduled for next month on appeals from Arkansas and three other states of lower court decisions that invalidated bans on same-sex marriage.

The St. Louis-based court says the cases will be deferred pending the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on the issue, which is expected in June. The high court heard oral arguments on Tuesday.

The announcement was made via the Appeals Court’s website.

Cases from South Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska are also affected by the decision.

Arguments had been scheduled to begin on May 12 in Omaha, Nebraska.
