CONWAY, AR – Early Sunday morning the Conway Police Department took five calls of smash and grabs at an apartment complex.
According to police reports, five car windows were smashed and in two cases items were stolen out of the cars. Of those two, one had a wallet untouched in the car’s glove box, leading police to call these cases ‘smash and grabs’.
LaTresha Woodruff with the Conway Police Department said, “For a thief, an apartment complex or a parking lot where there’s a lot of cars is an ideal location.”
“Several of the cases they broke the window, grabbed what was there, did not rummage through the car to find anything else inside of the car.”
Police do have a few tips that could help protect you against ‘smash and grabs’.
Woodruff said, “Make yourself less of a target by making sure there’s nothing there that’s in plain sight.”
“If there is something that they see they will break your window to get it, that’s what they are out there for after all, to take from you.”
The police department is patrolling the problem areas.
We did reach out to the Ridge at Meadowlake for a comment, the manager declined our request.
