Sherwood Seeking Funds for Road Development

SHERWOOD, AR – The Sherwood City Council is looking for ways to pay for a road it wants to build near the city’s busiest street.
The council voted to take $350,000 out of the street budget so it could  buy land for part of the Maryland Avenue Street project near Brockington Road. Now it needs to find the money to build the road.
Some members say it’s a top priority because of safety concerns for neighbors living by that intersection.

“There’s one way in, there’s one way out. If there’s an emergency, if this road gets blocked, there’s no way an ambulance can get in or a fire truck can get in,” said Mary Jo Heye with the council.

The council needs to build the road, its utility poles, sidewalks and curbs. It will look at options for funding at its council meeting at the end of the month.
