FAULKNER COUNTY, AR – A father and son have been injured in a shooting inside their home.
It happened shortly after 1 a.m. Friday on Orchard Road.
That’s where deputies with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) had gone while investigating a car accident after which the vehicle had been abandoned on Cotton Hill Road.
The vehicle registration had led them to the home of Shawn Silvis, 33 and Billy Silvis, 68.
In a news release issued several hours later, the FCSO said the older man told deputies his son was the driver of the vehicle that had been in the accident.
When Silvis went downstairs to get his son, he came back and told deputies the younger man had a gun to his own chin. The father then tried to talk through the door to his son, who fired a shot through the door, grazing his father in the side.
Deputies took the father to safety when they heard another gunshot. The deputies went back down to clear the room and found Shawn Silvas lying in the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.
Billy Silvas was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. Shawn Silvis was taken by Med Flight to the hospital where he is being treated. His wound is not life threatening at this time.
