Small Plane Flying from LR to Springdale Makes Crash Landing

ELKINS, AR — A single-engine plane crash-landed Wednesday afternoon.

According to Elkins Police Chief Bill Rhodes, the plane was traveling from Little Rock to Springdale when it made an emergency landing near Highway 16.

The experienced pilot and his passenger were not injured, and the owner of the plane said the situation was handled perfectly.

“As he was flying along he paid attention to where he was, realized there was a field, a good place to land… and he put it down, landed it perfectly. If there hadn’t been a little ditch across the field that he hit, he wouldn’t have had a mark on the airplane,” said plane owner Tommy Lee.

As for why the plane crash-landed, Lee said the FAA investigation is still underway, but right now it looks like the plane simply ran out of fuel. There was only minor damage to the aircraft.
