Some State Leaders say Marriage Equality Equals More Revenue

LITTLE ROCK, AR — A handful of state leaders are speaking out in support of marriage equality.

At a press conference at the Arkansas state capitol Monday afternoon, Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission Grant Tenille made his position clear, saying if Arkansas does not treat each citizen equally, we cannot expect big corporations to want to bring their business to the Natural State.

“Companies look for locations where all of their employees can be welcome, all of their employees will be treated equally, and I think the first state in the south that moves in that direction will have a leg up,” Tenille says.

Tenille, who is also a close friend of Governor Mike Beebe, says his stance on marriage equality is a position he and the governor don’t see eye-to-eye on.
