POPE COUNTY, AR – A community is shocked after the Pope County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) arrested a man accused of having sex with dogs. Now, we’re learning more about the man accused of bestiality.
Jonathan Ford, 32, was taken into custody earlier this week.
People close to him say he was running the shelter “I Love Lucy Pet Rescue” down Old Hickory Road just outside of Hattieville.
Annette Williams, who works at a grocery store in the area, lives near him. She is in disbelief about Ford’s alleged crimes.
“I was shocked because I didn’t know it was happening,” she said.
Williams, who is a self-titled ‘dog person,’ says stray dogs are a problem in Pope County.
“I’m very, very shocked. I’m very much a dog lover,” Williams added.
On “I Love Lucy’s” website, it says Ford picked up stray dogs to find them good homes.
“They have issues to begin with and to think that someone would show them kindness for a little bit and mistreat them again, that’s more than I can think of,” said Williams.
Williams hopes Ford pays for the crime for which he has been arrested.
“I’m glad it came to light and hopefully it won’t ever happen again,” Williams said.
One of Ford’s animals was taken to a local shelter. The sheriff’s office is still investigating and says Ford could face more charges.
