LITTLE ROCK, AR — Governor Mike Beebe will call a special session to address the teacher insurance crisis beginning Thursday at 3 p.m.
The session is scheduled to last three days through Saturday.
Beebe told reporters Wednesday that the Senate now has joined the House with the support needed to pass an appropriation providing additional funding to the teacher insurance plan.
The additional estimated $43 million in funding for 2014 will help prevent 48 percent premium increases for public school employees.
Beebe said the Senate now has 29 votes in support, two more than the required 75 percent support.
He added the House maintains 77 of 100 members supporting the plan.
