SPRINGDALE, AR (KNWA) – Springdale police officers bonded with some local students over a game of dodgeball Tuesday.
This is the seventh week of the police department’s Summer Sandlot program.
Officers head out into the community and spend time with students at area schools.
This week and next, the officers are getting to know the kids at Jones Elementary.
“It’s a completely different type of police work but it’s just as important as chasing the bad guys for us to go out there and just build those relationships. It makes us feel good to do this,” says Sgt. Jeff Taylor.
The officers visited two other schools earlier this summer.
